Draft & Publish
Kevala allows you to build your schedule ahead of time, without immediately sharing any of your staff. Here is how the draft and publish feature works:
- View the indicator at the top right of your schedule that says "Published to: Date"
- Shifts created before the date will be automatically published.
- The shifts you create after the set date will be posted as drafts.

- To set your publish date, click the button "Published to: Date"
- Then select the date in the calendar you would like to publish your schedule to.
- Once you select the date, you will see this pop-up confirming you want to publish all shifts until that date. Click "Publish".

- That’s it! You’ve successfully published your schedule.
Shift Color Key:
- Drafted shifts:
- These appear hollow with the border the color you set.
- They are only visible to you and back office users.
- Published shifts:

- These appear filled with the color you set.
- They are visible to everyone with access according to your share settings.
- When shifts are created, they will trigger the share tiering you have set.
Publish button color key:
- The publish button is gray when there are no future draft shifts.

- The publish button is blue when there are draft shifts in the future, but not within the next 7 days.

- The publish Button is Red when there are draft shifts in the next 7 days

Please note:
- You cannot undo Publish. Once shifts are no longer in draft state, they are shared according to your settings.
- Publish dates are separate between your schedule groups.
- Shifts are only truly created and added to your Schedule when they are published. To avoid miscommunication, be sure your drafted shifts are published when you’re ready to make them visible.
